Use cases/Brand monitoring
Brand monitoring API
Monitoring is search on a schedule: ask each platform for your keywords every hour, keep what you haven't seen, and alert on the rest. Each search is one GET request, and every platform answers in the same JSON envelope, so one loop covers them all.
Endpoints
The endpoints brand monitoring uses, each a GET request with your key in the x-api-key header.
| Endpoint | Request | Returns |
|---|---|---|
| SearchReddit | GET /v1/reddit/search?q=python | Posts across Reddit that match a search. |
| SearchThreads | GET /v1/threads/search?q=coffee | Posts that match a search: Threads' top results. |
| SearchYouTube | GET /v1/youtube/search?q=running | Videos and shorts that match a search; is_short tells them apart. |
| HashtagTikTok | GET /v1/tiktok/hashtags?tag=fyp | A hashtag's details: its description, video count and views. |
| Hashtag videosYouTube | GET /v1/youtube/hashtags?tag=funny | A hashtag's videos: the first ones its page shows, up to about 20. |
| Post commentsReddit | GET /v1/reddit/posts/comments?post_id=1wkziub | A post's comments in thread order, each with its depth. |
How it works
- 1List your keywordsYour brand, product names, common misspellings and your competitors.
- 2Search on a scheduleRun each search every hour: Reddit sorted by new, YouTube for the last day, Threads' top results.
- 3Keep what's newStore each post's URL and report only the ones you haven't seen before.
- 4Read the conversationFor a Reddit mention, fetch the thread's comments to see what people say around it.
- 5Track campaign hashtagsRecord a TikTok hashtag's video count and views each day to chart how a campaign grows.
Try it
Save your key and the base URL, then make the first calls:
export API_KEY="your-api-key"
export API_URL="https://api.socialparse.dev"
curl -H "x-api-key: $API_KEY" "$API_URL/v1/reddit/search?q=python"
curl -H "x-api-key: $API_KEY" "$API_URL/v1/threads/search?q=coffee"
curl -H "x-api-key: $API_KEY" "$API_URL/v1/youtube/search?q=running"Why it fits
- One key and one response shape for every platform, so adding a platform is a new path, not a new scraper.
- Pay per successful search; a search that fails costs nothing.
- Deleted posts are never served from the cache, so your alerts don't resurface removed content.
FAQ
How quickly are new mentions found?
As quickly as you search: an hourly job finds a mention within the hour of it appearing in the platform's search.
Can I monitor TikTok mentions by keyword?
There's no TikTok keyword search yet. Follow your campaign hashtags with the hashtag endpoint, and read the comments on your own videos.
What does an hourly monitor cost?
Two keywords on three platforms, every hour, is 6 calls an hour: 144 credits a day.
